Reducing Daily Stress…

“The Watson Brothers”

All right y’all… Jimmie and Charlie Watson here…

The suggestion we have for you today is how to create a different morning routine so that your days don’t feel so overwhelming and out of control with all that needs to get done.

Remember…. “It’s not the big issues in life that are so difficult; it’s the routine of the dailiness of life that is the most challenging…”

Okay, let’s begin with the following assumptions:

  • Once your day is underway, your ability to control tempo and to experience the day as intended is practically impossible…
  • How your day begins is a very accurate indicator of how the rest of your day will be experienced…

Given what we just shared, our question for you is are you willing to change how your day begins?  If you aren’t, the rest of what we have to share won’t be of much value.  On the other hand, if you are willing to change how you begin your day and commit to making the change a regular routine, then what we will be sharing will be very beneficial.

Before we begin, you will need to know the following:

  • What you choose to focus on grows… and is where you will spend your time.  This is because there is an emotional connection…
  • The difference between an intention and a task… an intention is a feeling from the heart which involves other people… a task is a thought from the mind which involves things such as outcomes, results, measurements…

Now, let’s put what you’ve just learned to work.  The thoughts that occupy your thinking at the beginning of a day are what you are focused on (it grows and is where you spend your time).  We have found that most people start their days focused on tasks (things that need to be done, things that haven’t been done, and more things to do if time permits).  We have also learned that a typical day for most people begins with multitasking.  And because how you begin your day is an accurate indicator of how your day plays out, what follows is usually a hectic day filled with busyness and feelings of being out of control and overwhelmed.

To create a different kind of day, we suggest you change your morning focus from tasks to intentions… remember, intentions are feelings from your heart involving people… and because you will need to be still and calm for these feelings to surface, you will need to stop jumping into multitasking as soon as your feet hit the floor.

We suggest you begin your day calmly with a favorite morning beverage focused on the people you are grateful to for being in your life… your spouse… best friend…  parent…  child…. co-worker… mentor… In other words, begin your days with Gratitude.  And by the way, this only takes a few minutes and over time you find this so refreshing that you will be spending more time with this form of stillness…

Next, we suggest you focus on the opportunities and possibilities that exist with each person you will be spending time with during the day.  And by opportunities and possibilities, we are referring to how you can contribute to each person’s experience as a result of being with you.  In other words, how do you want each person to feel as well as what do you want each person to know after spending time with you?

Well, that’s it for today…  When you take time to be still and change what you focus on when you first wake-up tomorrow morning, it will make an enormous difference in how you experience your day…

Please don’t hesitate to send us any questions you have about today’s suggestion or any comments you care to make.

In the spirit of living and learning,
