Pause for a moment and think about what this quote means relative to how you experience a day in your life. What is it telling you? What it’s telling me is that I am responsible for how I experience each day of my life. So when my days are consumed with busyness and are out of control, I am responsible for that. If my days are a drag, I am responsible for that. If my days are fulfilling and energizing, I am responsible for that?
What does taking responsibility for how Taking responsiblity for each day of your life is very challenging, and quite frankly, something that most of us avoid. Why is that you ask? First, there is a lack of understanding of what taking responsiblity for a day in your life means. Secondly, due to the uncertainty and unpredictability of life’s various events that for the most part are out of one’s control, it is easier and safer to blame the events for the condition of your day than to accept responsiblity. And finally, taking responsiblity for each day of your life requires that you take control of your fears and desires while giving up control things outside your sphere of influence. Yet, when people avoid taking responsibility for how their lives play out, life’s uncertainties and unpredictability will feed on themselves creating greater degrees of chronic worry and anxiety.
